Summertime Lemonade

Just in time for the Fourth of July make some Summertime Lemonade. You can enjoy this awesome drink while you watch fireworks on TV. Stay safe everyone! Cheers!

Summertime Lemonade

1 ¾ Cup white sugar

1 Cup water

Peels from lemons

1 ½ cups fresh lemon juice, about 6-8 lemons

7 Cups water

In a small saucepan combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil set aside. With a knife cut the yellow peel from the lemons being careful to not cut into the white part. Add to the yellow peels to the hot sugar syrup. Set aside to cool. (Can refrigerate until ready to serve.)

Juice the lemons to measure 1 ½ cups of lemon juice. Add to the syrup and add the 7 cups of water to the cooled syrup. Remove the peels. Taste and adjust to your taste, adding more lemon juice or more water. Remember if you add ice do not use all the water as the ice melts it will water the lemonade down.

To serve take some sugar and place onto a small bowl. With a wet paper towel, wipe the rim of your glass with water or lemon juice and then dip the rim of the glass into the sugar.

You can also add Strawberries, Raspberries, or Cherry Syrup to your taste. Maybe add some watermelon and/or fresh basil. You can also replace some of the water with Sprite or 7-up. You could also add some iced tea to make an Arnold Palmer or maybe a splash of rum.
