French Toast is a great way to start the day. I love to use Swiss Bread for the best French Toast ever. Lila Mae Johnson makes the best Swiss Bread there is! I love to try different ways to make things, so the Stuffed Cream Cheese French Toast was a great way to try to make French Toast. Then I heard about Captain Crunch French Toast, so of course I had to try that too. These are both fun and different to try. I hope you enjoy them too.
FRENCH TOAST SERVES 2
1 Large egg, beaten 1 Tablespoon melted butter 1/2 cup milk 1/2 tea. Vanilla or ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon, optional 1 Tablespoon sugar 1/4 tea. salt 2-3 slices of day-old bread, Swiss Bread or Challah bread is best butter for the griddle
Combine egg and melted butter, add milk. Add the vanilla, sugar, and salt, mix together. Whisk until smooth. Preheat griddle to 375º. Cut the bread into 1-inch slices. Soak the bread in the egg mixture without over saturating about 30 seconds per side. Brush heated griddle with butter. Place bread onto griddle. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes per side. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with your favorite syrup or jam. **To make Gluten Free use Udi’s Gluten Free Bread
Stuffed Cream Cheese French Toast Spread about 2-3 Tablespoons of Softened Cream Cheese onto one slice of bread and spread your favorite fruit jam onto another slice of bread. Put together like a sandwich. Then dip your sandwich into the egg mixture and grill as above. You can also just put only the cream cheese onto the bread, put the bread together and then grill. Serve with fresh sliced strawberries and whipped cream.

Captain Crunch French Toast Take about 1 cup of Captain Crunch Cereal and put into a zip-lock bag, close bag, and smash the cereal with a rolling pin. When mostly crumbs, pour out into a bowl. Dip the bread into the egg batter and then put into the crushed cereal. Press to make the cereal stick to the bread. You can put the cereal on both sides of the bread or just one side. I like just one side with cereal. I think it is too sweet when on both sides. Add about 2 tablespoons of butter to your grill, cook the cereal side first, and grill until golden brown. Serve with syrup or jam.
Hope you enjoy these different and fun breakfast dishes.
