Homemade Hamburger Helper

There are many weird things you miss when you must eat Gluten Free. This was a quick meal to get together, and everyone loved it. We think it is so much better than the box!

This is also a great Outdoor Dutch Oven meal when camping. Use a #12 Dutch Oven and have 20 coals on the bottom to brown the ground beef. Remove some of the coals when you want it to simmer.

Homemade Hamburger Helper

Serves 4-6

1 pound ground beef

½ Cup Diced Fresh Mushrooms, Optional

¼ Cup diced onion or 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder

1 Tablespoons minced Garlic or 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

4 cups water

1 Tablespoon Beef Base (I use Better than Bouillon)

1/2 Teaspoon Pepper

10.5 oz Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup or Cream of Chicken Soup

½ Cup Cream or Milk

12 Ounces Package Dried Egg Noodles or Pasta of your choice.

In a large frying pan, brown the ground beef. Break apart while it cooks by using a potato masher. Once the grounded beef is cooked drain the grease from the pan. Add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic to the hamburger and cook until softened.

Add the water, Beef Base, and spices to the pan, bring to a boil. Add the cream of mushroom soup and the cream. Return to a boil.

Add the Pasta. Stir to get all the pasta moistened. Reduce to a simmer and cover with a lid.

Simmer for 12-15 minutes or until noodles are tender. Stir about every 4 minutes.

Taste and adjust seasonings.

To make Gluten Free use Gluten Free Noodles, and Gluten Free Soup.

I tried German Spaetzle while in Florida, they made it Gluten Free for me. It was love at first bite. We had it with Schnitzel, which is similar to Chicken Fried Steak but made with Pork. Spaetzle
