Overnight Oatmeal

My friends were raving about this grab and go breakfast. I am thinking really, how good could Chia seeds be? Aren’t those the things you use to make Chia Pets? Well they were right! The Chia seeds make it amazing and creamier, but you can leave them out if you want. They do come in large bags so if you want to try this recipe, I can share some Chia seeds with you. Don’t worry you won’t have to make a pet out of them. This can easily be double or tripled.

Overnight Oatmeal

½ Cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal

½ Cup Milk

½ Cup yogurt, Greek or regular

2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey or brown sugar (optional)

1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)

Dash salt

Toppings of choice; fruit, nuts, seeds, peanut butter

In a bowl add all ingredients together. Stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Add topping of your choice. Eat and enjoy.

I love this with fresh peaches and raspberry jam. My friends like applesauce and cinnamon. My grandkids liked it plain with no toppings. The options are up to your imagination.

To make Gluten Free be sure the oatmeal is Gluten Free. To make Dairy Free use almond milk and dairy free yogurt.
