Steel Cut Banana Oatmeal

This is a new way to wake up to a healthy breakfast. My daughter-in-law and I made it for a wonderful Christmas Breakfast. The night before we put Banana Oatmeal into the slow cooker and in the morning we had some awesome healthy oatmeal! Using the slow cooker and a 4-cup measuring cup as a hot water bath helps the oats to cook gently so they don’t scorch or overcook. It was great and helped to offset the other wonderful things we made too!

Steel Cut Banana Oatmeal

2 Cups water 1 Cup Half and Half or Milk 3/4 Cup STEEL-CUT oats 1 banana smashed ¼ cup honey or brown sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla

In a 4-cup measuring cup or glass container combine all the ingredients. Place the measuring cup directly into your slow cooker. Add water to the slow cooker to come halfway up the side of the measuring cup. Cover slow cooker and cook the oats on low setting 7 to 8 hours.

* You can also replace the banana with some applesauce. You can also just leave it out.

* Gluten Free use safe oats.

Happy New Year Everyone!
