Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie Irons
CAMPING SEASON! Pie Irons are so much fun when camping. Pie Irons are usually found in the camping section of either Timberline or Ace Hardware or Sportsman’s Warehouse. The best ones to buy are the “double size” as they are more flexible with larger pieces of bread.
We make Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Pizza Pockets, Pudgy Apple Pies, Sloppy Joes Pockets and even Cinnamon Rolls (the tube kind is perfect). And Breakfast “Squares” were a huge hit. You can use Ready-made Pie Crust Dough and use apple pie filling, or Flour Tortillas with Cheese Quesadillas. You can do so many things, check them out.

Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie Irons
For each pie iron
Cream Cheese, softened
Strawberry or Raspberry or Peach Jam
Butter, softened
2 Slices of bread
Powdered Sugar, optional
Prepare a campfire or charcoal grill or outdoor cooking stove.
Spread the softened butter onto each side of two slices of the bread, Open your COLD pie iron and place one slice of bread BUTTER SIDE DOWN into the pie iron.
Spread the top of this bread with about 2 Tablespoons cream cheese and then spread about 2 Tablespoons of Jam. Top the jam with the other slice of bread with the butter side UP.
Close and lock the pie iron.
Place the pie iron over the COALS of your fire. Cook turning about every 30 seconds, after about 4 minutes check to see if it toasted evenly. Depending on the heat it might take more time. It does take some patience, but it is so worth it.
Remove the pie iron from the fire and transfer to a plate. I sprinkle with some powdered sugar, but that is just because I love Sugar! LOL Enjoy.
**Gluten Free use Gluten Free bread and make sure your pie iron is clean. (raspberry peach is my favorite combination!) And Mrs. Hewlett’s GF Bread is perfect!
If you don’t have Pie Irons, you can just “fry” up in a frying pan like you would a grilled cheese.

These strawberry cream cheese pie irons look absolutely delicious! Camping food really hits different when made over the coals like this. While waiting around the campfire, I usually hop on minigame for a quick little break—they have a great selection of free, instant-play games that require no downloads at all, making it super fun and convenient to pass the time. Thanks for sharing such an awesome recipe!
I never thought about getting the double-size pie irons, but using larger bread for pizza pockets makes so much sense. After campfire treats, I like winding down with ideas from MyNightfall; its night routine guides and calming evening routine tips have become a little ritual for me, and adding a nightly routine helps me sleep better after busy trips.
I never thought to cook tube cinnamon rolls in a pie iron; that sounds like such an easy camp breakfast. The double-size tip makes sense too, especially for pizza pockets and sloppy joe filling that can get messy with regular bread. guess the animal game
This is such a heartfelt and beautifully honest reflection on family, creativity, writing, and the emotional journey of putting your work into the world. I really enjoyed the personal stories about resilience, connection, and finding solidarity through shared experiences bt router login
